CJ Madison is well-equipped for this role and prepared to meet the challenges of the position — because he has done the hard work and persevered in an uphill battle of leadership, for years. In his candidacy for Clayton County Sheriff, Madison brings decades of proven leadership as a Police Officer, Special Agent, Deputy Sheriff and Assistant Chief of Police. In each of these roles, he has maintained steadfast in his commitment to shaping safer communities through accountability, innovation and unwavering dedication to public service. As Clayton County Sheriff, he intends to do the same.

Cornell Madison’s career is defined by integrity and impact. CJ Madison has earned the Georgia Governor’s Safety Award, the Joseph Whitehead Jr. Award and multiple commendations for distinguished service. These commendations include recognition in Las Vegas, NV, where he saved 13 people from drowning during a historic 1999 flood. A proud Marine and Veteran in the United States Military, he is the recipient of the Naval and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. Madison is proud to say that he earned these campaign honors due to his commitment to carrying his values of discipline, service and resilience.
Community Safety & Advocacy
Cornell Madison’s commitment to community safety and advocacy is deeply personal. After tragically losing his young son Elijah to drowning, CJ Madison became a tireless child water safety advocate. In his advocacy efforts, Madison has partnered with organizations like the Hope Floats Foundation and Marine Toys for Tots. He has championed causes from homeless youth support to elder care advocacy, volunteering with the American Red Cross and engaging directly in Clayton County local government through the Planning and Zoning Advisory Board and Visitors and Tourism Advisory Board.
Today, as he campaigns for Clayton County Sheriff, Cornell Madison stands ready to restore professionalism to the office, take a firm stance on violent crime and strengthen trust between law enforcement and the people of Clayton County.
