Dr. Thomas Heggen has always had a passion for helping others. Long before he gained the ‘Dr.’ honorific, he found himself curiously intrigued by the medical field. Even in his undergraduate studies, he laid down the foundation for his career as a surgeon. In 1979, he graduated from undergraduate studies earning him a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical and Medical Engineering. Almost immediately following commencement, he was accepted into the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine at UI. In 1983, he walked across the University’s stage in acceptance of his Doctor of Medicine (MD).

Operating in the Buffalo Grove area, Dr. Thomas Heggen performs procedures at both Presence St. Joseph Hospital and Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. Since 2008, he has stood as the Medical Director at Northshore Medical Center and Eterna MedSpa and Laser Vein.

As a vascular surgeon, Dr. Thomas Heggen performs a variety of surgical and non-surgical treatments.
