Ron Richards is a graduate of Henry Ford II High School, Michigan State University, Wayne State University, Blessed Heart Major Seminary and Pontifical Gregorian University. Richards’ educational background has afforded him a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University (MSU), Master of Arts in Teaching (Secondary Education & Teaching; Physics Major, Math Minor), Philosophy Degree and Theology Degree.
Professional Career
Ron Richards is backed by a diverse background of professional experiences. Richards initially worked as a Product Design Mechanical Engineer in the Automotive Industry after graduating from Michigan State University (MSU) with his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering. After working as an Engineer for Davidson/Textron Corporation, Richards made a major career change. Transferring his experience and expertise in science and math to the academic realm, Richards made his way into Education. His academic career began with his role as a Physics and Math Teacher at Brother Rice High School.
Swimming & Diving Coach
Ron Richards is a seasoned professional backed by a broad range of experiences and professional skills. But if there’s one area of expertise that Richards has achieved true excellence in, it’s coaching! Richards has worked as an Athletic Coach for decades, achieving excellence in coaching and earning Hall of Fame inductions along the way. In 2018, Richards was inducted into the Brother Rice Athletic Hall of Fame at Brother Rice High School, for his exceptional leadership, mentoring and excellence in coaching. Richards stood as Varsity Swim Coach at Brother Rice, where he also worked as a Physics and Math Teacher from 1989 to 1998. In that time, he received a variety of coaching accolades. Richards was named a MISCA Coach of the Year twice and Michigan Coach of the Year. He also received a nomination for National Coach of the Year in 1997. The Swimming and Diving Coach led a swim program that brought home five state titles and three national titles.
